Angelos Charisteas, the forward who scored the winner for Greece in the final of Euro 2004, is a transfer target for Championship side Ipswich Town, according to newspaper reports.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton is interested in signing an established European striker to help the club's promotion bid next season, and Charisteas fits the bill.
Charisteas currently plays for German side FC Nuremberg, but following the club's relegation from the top division he is said to be looking for a fresh challenge.
In 22 appearances for Nuremberg last season he scored six goals.
Charisteas scored 19 goals in 68 games for Greece.
Magilton may also be tempted to reignite his interest in Belgium international Emile Mpenza, following the player's release from Manchester City.
Mpenza, who has won more than 50 caps for his country, has also attracted the attention of Reading and Premier League side Bolton Wanderers
